Progress!
over 2 years ago – Wed, Nov 08, 2023 at 07:42:51 AM

Hi again you wonderful humanoids out there!

We’ve got some more artwork done, physical dice underway and a blood ritual is in the works! Sneak peek below:

Glorworth deity by Joel Salinas

Physical Dice are underway as well, so I can continue with the physical Tiers packages as well. Occasionally chasing after my daughter carrying things she shouldn't...

Blue Flamed Forged - Glass Dice awaiting transport

 Blood Ritual, Maroon Moon Harvest

Get hyped with the link to the Blood Ritual, which is still under development and the adventure encounter is still in the works as well!

  • Last month was a bit hectic with a few conventions that I visited, so writing didn’t go as swiftly. In addition, our editor that channels my mind blurbs on paper into magic needs more time.

Who knew that we are all just people with lives trying to create something amazing?! Weird!

  • Layout design needs some work as well. We’re close to sharing the first chapters and are eager to show what we've all been working on for months.

Hence postponing this post a little, since I was planning to share a chapter this update.

  •  Maps are in the works, and everyone else is working hard behind their screens to get your digital books ready. It’ll be a tome that after dropping it from the Ruins of Tafliffe Tower might actually deal enough falling damage to hurt the Green Dragon living there. The sheer size is astounding already.

Any thoughts are more than welcome!

Instead of having 1 pdf that’s hundreds of pages, I’m considering to make 8x separate books ranging from 70-100 pages each.

  • It is clear that due to over-excitement I’ve underestimated the workload, which is one of my many flaws. Therefore, we won’t add the Tundra Mountains yet. Sorry, but I hope that with the 8 chapters alone are probably over 700 pages, including lore and class breaking +/- 800 pages you’ll forgive me..? This unfortunately does not mean I can deliver the final product sooner...
  • Owning/running a business and being an entrepreneur is still a steep learning curve for me, I bit off quite a chunk and I’ll need time and a job that’ll provide a higher financial return. This also means that you’re the lucky chosen ones that get this book for the cheapest price it’ll ever be sold! Huzzah! As of now, the books will be substantially more expensive. Think along the lines of 70 USD.
  • A little early since I haven't delivered the products yet, but I honestly hope you’ll remain ambassadors for Quest Nest and have heaps of fun with our products. We do our ultimate best in creating something useful and awesome. Providing the tools to experience some amazing memories. Something we could be proud of.
  •  Spread the word, share the love; that way we might be able to launch another Kickstarter in 2024. If my budget allows, until then I’ll be looking for work as a freelance writer, editor, crowdfunding project manager, (GM brainstorm and for hire), fantasy writer, help with company direction or be a warlock. Of course besides fulfilment on your products, those have my priority. Swing me a message anywhere really if you feel like I could help you out, but Discord works.
  • There’s world lore with some more amazing artwork in the works and the Brain Reaper Class that we’re still testing, but there’s progress there!

Personally, the new house we bought a year ago is finally close to finishing. Hopefully February, so fingers crossed. On a much sadder note, there also have been some hospital developments within the family and we are still figuring out a way to deal with those. It took me a bit to come to terms with what’s to come, which is still fluctuating. However, another question that simmers was whether I should share it. But I value honesty and hope that reaching you all as a regular humanoid is ok.

Radiant Riders - by Zana Arnautovic

Not ending on that note, someone wise told me that "nobody has learned to play the piano by reading about it." You often have to experience it, put in the work and learn. That's a way to improve.

So let’s do that. If you want to experience something, put in the work and learn so we can improve. Afterwards, embrace the change. Reflect on your growth. And love is powerful, despite it not being visible or can be experienced through anything else but feeling.

Share the love! Stay awesome!

Small(-ish) Update
over 2 years ago – Fri, Sep 29, 2023 at 01:09:41 AM

Right! Let's dive in!

Let's negotiate the fate of a village

Sorry, but the book and written pages so far are exceeding the 300 pages easily. It is becoming more of a tome than an adventure module with a single chapter ranging from 60-90 pages... And to give you a better understand about the work we have (done):

  • Galvan Harbour (introduction to baddies and the region)
  • Silver Mountain (negotiations)
  • Ohm-E'Ga (war and aftermath and regular moment, so a larger chapter)
  • Baraq Runes (Blood Ritual)
  • Silas Stronghold (a party with zombie creations and other 'weird' experiments in the basement)
  • Ruins of Tafliffe Tower (facing off a Green Dragon whose stats have been affected by earlier decisions from your players)
  • Cave of Marvels, housing the Divine Forge and the Well of the Aether

Then there are a couple of one-shot encounter that I promised and could be tied into the adventure, but with their own unique twist. Twist? How so? Well, for example there's a personal journey after joining into a spiritual journey with a shaman from the Faith of the Leaf. Or helping out a Hag (of sorts) by creating a poison powerful enough to topple a Green Dragon. Or paying the toll for crossing a magically fog obscured lake when your players disturb the waters too much.

Of course there's Isla de Puerta as a starting point and the Tundra Mountains that will be provided as a stretch goal. In short, it's a lot of work to get all this done for you.

As if the entire tome is not enough, there's quite some amazing artwork coming along nicely, same as the dice trays, dice, deities and faction documents, music, and a few other surprises that you all deserve since you're all awesome! I honestly cannot thank you enough to stick with me during this journey and make it possible for me to create something I love to do.

Just look at Celdrullae as the creator of Elves (by Joel Salinas)
  • Several chapters have been 'finalised' and some are still under revisions of our editor that works his magic before sending it off to layout design. We have recently concluded on a negotiations chapter, which was long overdue. Just imagine trying to get the upper hand in a negotiation for your players, where the ambassadors are just looking for a way to spring their ambush and invade a village while your players aren't there. Yes, this encounter has consequences and I hope you and your players will love it!
  • The Brain Reaver class is still being playtested and revised. So far, the feedback has been minimal aside from praise, so that's a good sign.
  • A cast of characters and NPCs exceeding the 20 with their own portrait artworks, motivations and more to help convince your players that the world is 'alive'. Then there are variations usable for tokens, etc.

On a personal note! After a year there is a date where we will be able to live in our new home. February 2024. What does that mean? This means that we stop being nomads for a while and we feel that it is time. So, more screens to use for work (and increase productivity), in case it's not done yet or for the next Kickstarter (for which I don't have any time so let's leave it there).

Stay awesome!

Love,

Frank

PS. A small surprise to reveal:

Players could scan this when they 'find it'
